中国菜的英文名

         一个朋友开了一家酒楼,为了迎合奥运气氛,他要求菜谱上有英文译文,要求我去做翻译,
     我找了几个出国留学的朋友,有去英国的,加拿大,澳洲的,没有一个有把握译得好,后来我参考
     了《北京市餐饮业菜单英文译法》,我觉得也没什么大不了,和我的
     英文一样糟糕!例如:“砂锅鱼头 Fish Head in Casserole”,老外看了会理解为“放在砂锅里的
     鱼头”,又如:“佛跳墙 Steamed Abalone with Shark's Fin and Fish Maw in Broth”,英文里
     的意思是“蒸鲍鱼拌鲨鱼的鱼翅及鱼肚放在汤里”真的令人摸不着头!还有“猪肉”译作“pork”,真
     奇怪为什么不用“meat”,“pork”在美国有“和女子性交”的意思,难道有一道菜吃了就和女子性交吗?
         不过我也没办法,我也只能参考一下,因为中国菜的确没有正规的英文译法!
