Hello everyone,各新位朋友大家好!It’s me Finn 方安again.

Nice to see you all again.

哇!上次有那么多人发评论。好高兴哦!让我更高兴的是,有很多人猜我20岁以下。Hmmm… unfortunately I’m not that young!  But, some people think I am 40 or older!  我可没那么老… 9楼 0Alice  said you can’t make a judgement (无法判断) from just one picture – that’s very true.  So look at my new one above!

最恐怖的是,又有很多人猜对了!Well done to those of you who guessed my age correctly.  I’ll tell you exactly how old I am next time.

I’m really interested in what everybody said about their birthdays.  You know, I think birthday celebrations are not so different between Britain and China – for most people the most important thing is getting together with friends and family and having fun.

8楼 0つ雨色こ蓝靛   and   16楼 0白兰花   said in China people eat bean sprouts 豆芽and noodles 面条on my birthday.  Is this something to do with a  pun 双关语in Chinese?  Can someone please tell me?

Well I didn’t eat either bean sprouts or noodles.  I had cake! Here’s me receiving my cake from my family.

But what I’d really like to know is what you would do is tell me about your ideal birthday party 你理想中的生日派对.  What would you do if you could do anything?  Let me know about the birthday party of your dreams.

As you all know, it’s traditional in the UK to receive a cake on your birthday.  I thought you might be interested to learn the meaning of a phrase about cake:

“You can’t have your cake and eat it”

Listen to this to find out what it means?

Or read this.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/china/learningenglish/realenglish/re/2008/03/080307_re_cake_idiom.shtml

And here’s another phrase using the word cake.

  “It’s a piece of cake”

Does anyone know what it means?

I also asked you to guess the location of my photo.  Many of you guessed Guilin 桂林or Huangshan 黄山 – I’m afraid BOTH are wrong!

Have a look at the new one above.  You can see more in this one.  I’ll also give you a clue.  It’s in Hunan 湖南.  A very beautiful, magical place.  In Chinese people call it a 人间仙境.  Now you must know!

Thank you everyone for your birthday wishes.  I feel very popular now!

Take care everybody, keep learning English – you are all doing very well.  加油!

And good luck with my questions.

Questions

1)      What age am I?  (Clue 41楼 0小虫子  was right – I’m between 27-35)
2)      Why do people eat bean sprouts and noodles on their birthday?
3)      What would be your ideal birthday celebration?
4)      Can you tell me what the cake phrases mean?
5)      Where in China is my picture taken?  (Clue – it’s somewhere in Hunan)

See you all soon,

Finn
